Chapter Twenty

AIDAN REGRETTED HANDING over his phone number to Kristof and Misaki. Especially to Misaki as he stared at the umpteenth message he’d received from the man since their dinner two nights ago. Messages that always started off innocent enough, but quickly strayed into territory that had Aidan blushing profusely and hating that the suggestions the man made weren’t as repulsive as they should have been. He. Was. Straight.

And today’s first message arrived at the early hour of seven when Aidan had only been in bed for two hours.

Misaki: Morning Aidan.

Aidan: Why u up so early?

He wished he hadn’t replied. Wished he hadn’t asked a question that invited Misaki conversing further.

Misaki: I haven’t been to bed yet. Did I wake you?

Aidan: Yes. Now fuck off so I can go back to sleep.

Misaki: Hmm. Okay. I will talk to you later.

Aidan groaned, his phone dropped to the floor as he waited for it to buzz again, Misaki didn’t usually give up that easily. Ten- twenty- thirty minutes passed, and his phone remained silent, but instead of being pleased, Aidan was only pissed off more as sleep continued to allude him. He crawled out of bed and stumbled into the kitchen, muttering unflattering comments about Misaki much to the amusement of Marcus who was sitting at the table eating breakfast.

“Didn’t you only go to bed two hours ago?” Marcus asked, eyeing him curiously. “At least that’s when Kenta crawled into bed and kicked me out... you do realise that all this shit that’s going on isn’t great for our relationship?”

“Yeah like all that shit is my fault,” he snorted, pouring coffee into a mug and adding several cubes of sugar. “And I’m awake because that damned Misaki bloody messaged me and now I can’t go back to sleep!”

Marcus stood, grabbed his plate off the table and wandered over to the sink. “What are you wanting to do now?” It would be him accompanying Aidan instead of Kenta during the daylight hours at least until Kenta decided being apart from Marcus was too difficult and pulled in others to take his lover’s shifts. “Do I need to change?” He gestured at his attire, casual instead of the normal suit.

“Nah... I think I’ll just head to the gym. Maybe a workout with the bag will help me fall asleep.”
